Funny movie but no real classic

It is too bad Brooks did not make this film in the early 80s rather than the 90s. The latter decade was a worse time for films and assured the film not to be legendary. Harvey Korman really worked best on TV and he was slightly wrong for a part in this film. Another problem. Film was still very good. Made to capitalize on the 1992 Coppola film 'Bram Stoker's Dracula'.

Brooks was hit and miss in the 80s as any comedy filmmaker would be. Still he had a stash of corny old jokes to toss in with whatever fresh material he thought of. He could always count on casting some likable actors to deliver his comedy goods. Even if a lot of it wasn't. He probably had to wait for his Dracula turn After 1979s Love at First Bite the public probably wasn't looking for another one.

Love at First Bite was forgotten pretty much by 1985 or 1986. Would have been, like I said, better to made this film in the 80's ( along with 'Space balls').

I think you are right that this film likely would've made "cult status" had it come out a decade prior...
Funny thing is I HATED this movie when I first saw it in theaters..I wanted to walk out. Not sure what happened, between that and home video release, but once I saw it on home video I was DYING from laughing so hard!
