Bond remembered the good old days when men were men and women knew their place. It was an old fashioned world for old fashioned men. These days Bond couldn't even smoke in public, the highways' cameras monitored his car and would fine him for a moment of wanton speed, and if he opened a door to a woman he was accused of patronising them. And to cap it all - Moneypenny had recently come out as lesbian. Bond felt out of place. The world had moved on but he was still standing still. Perhaps he was that relic from the cold war. Perhaps it was time to retire and let the Me Too generation inherit the world. Bond had served queen and country long enough.
Bond took out the last of his Morland cigarettes. He lit the end and inhaled. He knew it was bad for his health but he wouldn't want it any other way.
