Garbo is one of those actress whom one cannot take one's eyes off whenever she is on screen. TCM are showing a number of her films today and I have just watched The Painted Veil - not one of her best by a long shot, but her magnetism keeps it watchable throughout.
My favourite roles: Camille, Ninotchka. Most wanted: Flesh and the Devil, Queen Christina.

Ah, that face. So gorgeous and intelligently expressive. It "spoke" for Garbo even when a film she was in had no sound.
