La prueba final resulta ser un juego con el equipo Esperion Youth. Fukuda les dice a los candidatos que les dará información durante el juego. Mientras que otros candidatos se sienten abrumados, Ashito está ansioso por vencer al equipo juvenil para que todos puedan pasar la prueba. Los candidatos se sienten bien con el juego, pero comienzan a sentirse incómodos por el lento juego del equipo juvenil.

Mientras los candidatos están abrumados por el equipo juvenil, Fukuda les echa sal en la herida al contarles una información. Incapaz de recuperarse del susto, el equipo candidato permite más goles al equipo juvenil, convirtiéndolo en un partido de un solo lado. Hana le dice a Ashito que tenga una conversación sincera con Noriko, pero nunca tiene la oportunidad hasta el día de su partida.

Ashito llega a la base de Esperion, conoce a otros participantes de la prueba y conoce a futuros compañeros de equipo. Sin embargo, el cuerpo técnico del equipo promete no darle la vida fácil a los deseos de los jugadores.

Primer partido de la Liga de Tokio, partido de Seikyo High School, segunda mitad. A través de la colaboración entre Kuroda y Asari, Ashito comprende la importancia de llevar la pelota con tres personas. Partiendo de Ashito, a quien se le ocurrió la respuesta a la tarea, el equipo de Esperion B finalmente da la señal de un contraataque. Aunque la diferencia de puntos se reduce desde la inferioridad de 0-3, el tiempo de partido es corto. Sin embargo, a los ojos de Ashito, quien se encontraba en un estado de extrema concentración, ¡Comenzó a ocurrir cierta "anormalidad"...!

Durante la cena de celebración por el partido victorioso contra Seikyo High, aparece un partido de fútbol en la televisión en el restaurante BBQ, que muestra a Kuribayashi haciendo su debut en J1. Cuando Kuribayashi termina su entrevista por su increíble juego, Mibu recibe una llamada de Date, diciéndole que habrá algún cambio de miembro entre el equipo A y el equipo B, ya que Yoshitsune se lesionó. Ashito hace grandes jugadas en el juego de promoción. ¿Podrá Ashito ascender al equipo A?

Fukuda le dice a Ashito que cambie de posición a defensor, algo que Ashito no puede soportar. Sus compañeros de equipo, preguntándose por qué Ashito no se presentó al anuncio de la promoción del equipo A, se enteran de la verdad y se sienten conmocionados. Tachibana, Ohtomo, Togashi, Kuroda y Asari van a buscar a Ashito, pero no lo encuentran por ninguna parte. Es Hana, quien se acerca a Ashito, sentada sola en una parada de autobús.

While still feeling unconvinced, Ashito makes up his mind that he must try and learn to be a full-back. He goes to practice, wanting to figure out Fukuda's intention. However, being unfamiliar to the position and disliking defending, Ashito doesn't quite get the meaning of "shuffle" and feels out of place.

Advised by Takeshima and Anri that he should study Kuribayashi's movements, Ashito pours over the broadcast of the J1 match to see Kuribayashi's play. Combing over the past footage of Kuribayashi's play, Ashito realizes that what set Kuribayashi apart is how he turns his head. Ashito tries to incorporate it in his practice right away, but it only confuses him. In his teammates eyes, that confusion looks like being unmotivated for having to play a full-back.

Ashito and others have an unexpected reunion with Nakano and Kaneda, who played alongside him at the tryouts. After failing the tryouts for Esperion, Nakano and Kaneda joined the current top team in the league, Tokyo Musashino Soccer Club Youth, where Tachibana used to play. While Nakano is happy to see Ashito and others, Kaneda blames Ashito for his failing the tryouts.

The game against Tokyo Musashino is the climax of the Tokyo Metropolis League for Esperion B team. Although the team has worked on countermeasures against Musashino, the air is still tense within the team and there's a clear sign of anxiety on the faces of many of them during the warmup. But right before the game starts, Takeshima disappears from the locker room with his girlfriend, Tae.

The match between Esperion and Musashino will determine who will dominate the Tokyo Metropolis League. Musashino's ace, Kaneda, takes advantage of the weak coordination between Togashi and Takeshima, giving Musashino a go-ahead score. Right before the end of first half, Kuroda injures himself due to his desperate defense play. During the halftime, Asari blames the center-backs, but Date disagrees with him. Thanks to Ashito's great bird's-eye view, Esperion B team succeeds in bringing down the defense of Musashino and scores a tie-goal. Esperion gains the momentum, while Musashino is confused by Ashito's flexible play. Kaneda can't hide his frustration at seeing just how much Ashito has improved. The desperate battle between the top of the Tokyo Metropolitan League, Musashino, and the challenger, Esperion: Who will win in the end...?
