In a small town, our heroes meet a wounded girl called Ho-May whose friend was killed by an evil creature. Goku can not tell her he is a creature in human disguise. Our heroes are ambushed by a spider-women disguised as traveling entertainers. Goku fights with all his strength for the kindness of the girl and her father who prepared a tasty meal.

The quartet visits a huge temple on a rocky mountain. All the priests and apprentices live a strict life of studying the sacred scrolls and purifying their souls under the principles of 'no-drinking', 'no-smoking' and 'all tangible things are vain.' They are surprised to see Sanzo partaking in all of these forbidden things. Then, assassins sent by the evil monster Kogaiji attack the temple. Our heroes have to save the priests from the assassins' ghastly violence as the priests are prohibited from killing

Sanjo Genzo and his motley crew, Sha Goyjo, Cho Hakkai, and Son Goku, are once again en route to India when they meet Horan, a young woman fleeing a monster that proves unusually difficult to kill. To thank them for her rescue, Horan invites the quartet back to the extravagant palace of her "master," Go Dogan. After a sumptuous dinner that delights Goku, the wanders retire to their rooms, where they're visited by murderous doppelgangers of each other. Naturally, Sanjo discovers the source of the evil and dispatches Dogan with a little assistance from his companions.

A mysterious light falls from the Heavens. It's the Pearl Jade. It can grant any wish. Dr. Ni tells Gyokumen Koushu about it. Lirin overhears and tells Kougaiji. Then Kanzeon Bosatsu (The Merciful Goddess) requests "orders" Sanzo and company to go and find and seal it before it falls into the wrong hands.

500 years ago in Heaven, Konzen Douji is suddenly put in charge of taking care of a heretic child named Goku, who has golden eyes.

Goku continuously tries to see Nataku to tell him his name, but is refused every time. Tenpou and Konzen talk about Nataku's true origins and how Goku's existence may be a threat to Li Touten.

Goku's true power is revealed and Konzen, Kenren, and Tenpou are deemed traitors for protecting him. With no other choice, the four make a run for it, and try to get Goku safely down to Earth before any harm can come to him.

Sanzo, Gojyo and Hakkai start feeling the effects of altitude sickness as they travel further west. They are attacked by demons when a man named Hassan saves them. He takes them back to his hideout, where they meet someone rather unexpected...

The barrier that Sharak Sanzo had erected to protect the surrounding area has been breached. Demons pour in to attack the villages and the Kouten temple.

Sanzo and Kougaiji continue their battle as Sharak continues the spell to put the barrier back up. Hakkai worries about what might be happening to Gojyo, and Dokugakuji thinks back about the first time he met Kougaiji.
