She decides to focus her energy on going to night school so she can eventually own her own business. Murray doesn't like change or things costing money, so he convinces her to get a perm instead. Meanwhile, Erica struggles to balance her academic and social life in college and needs Adam's assistance.

Adam discovers Beverly has been manipulating him with guilt letters when he tells his mother he doesn’t want her to chaperone the school trip to Hershey Park. Meanwhile, after attending Career Night, Geoff realizes he doesn’t want to be an eye doctor like his father.

Adam is initially terrified when he and his friends are recruited to the William Penn Academy baseball team, but he quickly catches on to Principal Ball's master plan. A short-sighted Barry is in denial about his pitching skills. Meanwhile, Geoff's dad interferes in his relationship with Erica.

Beverly and Adam team up to do a mother-son cooking show on public access television; and when Barry ruins the one college letter of recommendation he is able to get, Murray must step in to help.

Adam is thrilled when he has to design his own video game for school, so he turns to his family for inspiration. Meanwhile, Beverly is worried about Pops’ gambling and ropes Bill Lewis into her latest scheme.

Since Barry doesn't want to miss out on the fun, he forces his way into the band, despite his sister's objections. Meanwhile, Beverly's concerns about Murray's health push him to the limit.

Murray buys WrestleMania tickets to spend time with Barry and Adam, but he buys fake tickets and they can't get in; Beverly forms her own neighborhood watch group when the Frentas decide neighbor Jane Bales will be the watch captain.

Despite Beverly's insistence, Adam and Murray don't want to go on a camping trip, so father and son create a film faking it, but their wilderness experience backfires when the Kremps come over for dinner.?Meanwhile, Erica joins an all-girl a cappella group and learns an important lesson after taking over the group.

Mother and son have a bonding experience when Beverly buys a bicycle for Adam just like the one from “Pee Wee’s Big Adventure,” while Barry and Erica turn Murray’s furniture store into an after-hours lounge for college students.

Adam returns to William Penn Academy as a senior and wrestles with the fact that he is a cool kid and no longer a nerd while his original friend group isn’t as lucky. Meanwhile, Beverly attempts to have a more grown-up relationship with Erica and Barry before they head back to college.
