In a life-altering competition, contestants use medically approved weight-loss techniques to shed pounds and try to win a $250,000 prize. The twelve players are seperated into teams - red and blue - and in the first challenge, pulling a heavy car across a track - the Blue Team prospers, but despite their advantage, the Blue Team also loses the least amount of weight at the weigh-in, and Dana becomes the first to be voted out.

After a tough elimination, the Blue Team gets back into the game on the second challenge, a bake-off which will determine the winner of a luxorious spa visit. The catch is that if any player takes a taste of anything they bake, 50 percent of all profits their team made is not counted. At the end of the task, the Red Team pulled through, making $362, edging out the Blue Team's $245. More importantly, the player's will power held strong, and no one took a lick of any food. At an emotional weigh-in, where neither Maurice, Lizzeth, Dave or Matt lose any weight, the Red Team is sent to the elimination ceremony, where Lizzeth is sent packing.

The Red Team and the Blue Team are forced to go onstage and perform about their feelings on their weight and weight-loss. The winner, decided by the audience at the nightclub which the players performed at, is the Red Team, who is given a reward. Later, even with the Blue Team training as hard as ever, the Red Team loses more weight than the Blue Team, forcing Blue to the elimination ceremony, where rumours and whispers divide their team. The deciding vote comes down to one of the Blue Team members, and Aaron is eliminated.

""Red and Blue Teams Go to New Heights"" -

Blue Team trainer Bob Harper seems surprised after Aaron's ouster the night before. Things move on at the ranch, and after a workout, the players find a giant mountain of cupcakes in the house, with a note saying that whichever player eats the most cupcakes in 15 minutes would get to eat dinner with a loved one. After deciding on a method where no one would eat too many calories, Dave eats only one cupcake and is able to eat dinner with his wife, Tina. At the challenge, teams are forced to run up 1,500 steps to the top of a huge building. The Blue Team completes it more quickly than the Red Team, and are given a great reward. After a spat between Lisa and Jillian about effort, the weigh-in reveals that the Blue Team had lost more weight than the Red Team, and in the end, the Red Team chooses to send home Matt because of his failure to work with the team.

""A Team Lightens Up Through Elimination"" -

After Matt's elimination Ryan realizes that Dave has been lying to him and the girls of the Red Team for the entire game. The challenge of the week is a food stacking competition - where team members must build their stack the highest using only their mouths and they may not eat any of the food during the game. The Red Team emerges victorious, giving them an amazing reward. However, the Blue Team comes out as the biggest winners; Andrea's 7-pound loss pushes their team to victory at the weigh-in, eventually leading to the Red Team eliminating the team member that is most annoying: Dave.

Rumours and suspicions fly after a tense previous elimination, where the women in the house assumed that the men were trying to pick them off. Players are just starting to get on each other's nerves: Maurice's lack of work ethic angers his team - and his trainer, Kelly Mac's backhanded compliments annoy the Red Team, and Lisa's whining continues to get on everyone's nerves. At the challenge, an agility competition meant to mimic lifegaurding, the Red Team prospers, winning themselves a trip to the Umberto Salon, where they receive makeovers and new hairstyles. The Blue Team, forced to vote one of their own off of the ranch, cannot decide who to eliminate. With a deadlocked vote, the members of the Red Team must choose to eliminate one of the members of the Blue Team, finally deciding on Kelly Mac.

At the weigh-in, Maurice and Lisa find themselves eligible for elimination, and when the other players vote, Ryan betrays his pinky promise with Lisa by being the swing vote for her ticket out of the house.

Caroline Rhea returns to welcome fourteen new players to The Biggest Loser and to host them at their stay at the new ranch. After being faced with a room of tempting food, the players discover a twist in the game - this time it's men vs. women! The women, who will always wear Red, will be trained by Jillian Michaels, while the Blue team, the men, will be put to the test by Bob Harper. Later, the new teams compete in the first challenge of the season - a competition that takes place in a jet so that the contestants can experience what it feels like to weigh nothing! At the end of this 90-minute episode, one of the hopefuls will be voted off of their team. Who will survive the battle of the sexes Biggest Loser style?

In order to participate in a professional photo shoot, all seven remaining contestants receive a Beverly Hills-style make-over. Afterwards, a special surprise awaits the seven contestants at the pedicab race when their family members arrive for a surprise visit, as they become the cargo for the race. The winner will not only receive immunity for the week, but he/she will also get to spend an evening with their family.

Caroline informs the remaining six contestants that the duos are gone from here on out. Now, they will all be competing against each other by themselves. Aside from this change in the game, one contestant will shock everyone with their new look. Meanwhile, two other contestants will end up having a fight between each other.

Before participating in the weekly challenge, the remaining men share their dreams with everyone else. This week, the challenge will prove to be one of the hardest ones yet. The contestants must hang on with their arms and legs to a tube hanging above a swimming pool. Can the remaining five contestants handle it?

This time, 50 contestants will be chosen - one from each state in the U.S. There will be new surprises awaiting them, including the introduction of the new Red Team trainer - Kim Lyons. The contestants will soon learn that only 14 of them will get to stay at the ranch, sending the remaining 36 back home to compete on their own, with a chance of returning to the ranch to win the $250,000 grand prize.

The contestants take a trip the beach in order to get away from the ranch. After Bob and Kim put them all through a series of difficult workouts in the sand, the contestants realize it's not all fun at the beach. Also, one contestant receives some bad news from home, which could force them to leave the ranch.

Bob and Kim teach their teams how to exercise and eat healthy while on a cruise vacation. Their weekly challenge will consist of them, the contestants, delivering room service orders all over the cruise ship for an opportunity to win time with their loved ones.

The red team begins to mentally fall apart from all the pressure, which leads to them refusing to follow Kim's lead, making her frustrated. Meanwhile, the contestants give the "temptation" a try to win a free pass and receive immunity for the week.

The teams are shocked to learn that the gym has been locked for the week, which prompts Bob and Kim to teach them that they can workout anywhere without using the gym. Meanwhile, the Blue Team attempts to break their losing streak by winning the weekly challenge at the Los Angeles Coliseum.

In order to keep their team together, one team will have to step it up after back-to-back losses. The weekly temptation will not make things any easier, as the losing team will be left without their trainer and have to order takeout for the next 72 hours.

Caroline informs the remaining players that from this point forward, the Red and Blue teams are no more. The players will now be paired up with another and compete as a duo, and one player will have the opportunity to decide who will compete as duos.

They remaining players at the ranch are shocked when Caroline Rhea informs them that some of the 36 players sent home at the beginning will be rejoining them. Two players will be joining the competition at the ranch, and will have to struggle to adapt to Bob and Kim's training.

As the players are narrowed down, Caroline reveals to everyone that they will now play as individuals. The remaining players will receive a makeover and a photo shoot to showcase their new thin bodies. And during the weekly challenge, one of the player's will have to face their greatest fear.

This week, the contestants hike up a hill to find over 100 keys, but only two teams will find the keys that unlock the Biggest Loser gym. The rest of the teams have to learn to creatively work out all week without the use of the gym. And fashion guru Tim Gunn returns to help the final seven contestants look their stylish best after all the players get complete salon makeovers from guest hair stylist Tabatha (Bravo's Tabatha's Salon Takeover) and celebrity stylist Brandon Martinez. Then it's time for amazing transformations and emotional reunions when the made-over contestants show off their incredible new looks to loved ones flown in to help them celebrate their big day. Also, the contestants soar to new heights in this week's challenge, and one player is sidelined with an injury that will have a dramatic impact on her workouts.

Bob and Jillian take the players on a field trip to teach them healthy grocery shopping on a budget, and one player hits a weight-loss milestone.

This week, the tables are turned when contestants get to train their trainers and are only too happy to put Bob and Jillian through the paces! Later, the remaining five players have to race up and down hills while carrying bags representing their total weight loss so far in a particularly grueling challenge. Then it's time to visit Dr. Huizenga for a progress report and to find out their new "real ages" now that they've lost so much weight. The players also try on their "goal outfits" and are amazed to see how far they've really come. Then after weighing in and eliminating one more contestant, the final four players head home, where they'll stay for 30 days before returning to weigh in at the ranch one last time.

The final four contestants go home for 30 days, reunite with friends and family and experience firsthand the challenge of continuing to make diet and exercise a priority back at home. Contestants also learn from host Alison Sweeney what their final challenge of the season will be - running a full marathon when they return to the ranch for their final weigh-in. Completing the full 26.2 mile course will be their toughest challenge yet, but cheering them on along the way are some past season "Biggest Losers"- grand prize winners Ali Vincent and Michelle Aguilar, plus "at home" winners Jim Germanakos, Heba Salama and Bernie Salazar. And as an added incentive, each player who finishes the marathon will get $10,000 to donate to the charity of their choice. Later, it's the very last "last chance workouts" with trainers Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels before a final weigh in determines who the two definite finalists will be - and which two contestants fall below the dreaded yellow line, leaving America to vote which one will be the third finalist to compete for the grand prize of $250,000.

The players travel to Washington DC and get a tour of the White House. They meet the White House chef for the tour, and they are shown Michelle Obama's garden where she grows vegetables to eat in the White House. The contestants help to pick and prepare vegetables, then eat them at lunch. The weigh-in is held at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

Ali reveals to the contestants that two people will be going home, but there's a second twist. In addition to the yellow line, there will also be a red line. Whoever falls below the red line will be automatically eliminated and sent home prior to the voting. This causes tension between two players.

This week is makeover week, and each contestant is made over with the assistance of Tim Gunn and Tabatha Coffey. They then give speeches designed to inspire and motivate others.

Investment guru Suze Orman, makes a guest appearance on the show to advise the contestants and to administer a quiz. She says she is there to help them find the balance between health and wealth. She tells them that obesity is a very expensive disease. She asks them financial questions relating to health and weight.

Also, tensions are high between the trainers and one team suspected of game play, and a lifting competition rewards the winning team with a prize that everyone wants.

One contestant creates tension in the house by expressing a wish to go home; professional tennis player Anna Kournikova gives the contestants tennis lessons before they face a challenge involving tennis balls; another contestant is sent home.

Season 12 kicks off with two new trainers – internationally renowned tennis star and certified trainer Anna Kournikova and top fitness expert Dolvett Quince – joining “Biggest Loser” favorite Bob Harper, and 15 contestants competing in a “Battle of the Ages” that will group contestants by age for the first time ever in the history of the show. Host Alison Sweeney tells the teams that they will make their first game-changing decision – who their trainer will be – in the order in which they finish the first challenge. Once each team chooses their trainer, “The Battle of the Ages” begins. The new contestants include Vinny Hickerson, who overcame a difficult childhood to become a successful Nashville recording artist, Antone Davis, a 447-pound father of four and former NFL player for the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons, and Bonnie Griffin, a 63-year-old grandmother of six who lost her home to Hurricane Katrina and lost her husband not long after.

Gym-time restrictions are put into place, allowing each team only two hours a day to work out. Elsewhere, the contestants receive health evaluations from Dr. Huizenga, who delivers particularly shocking news to one player; and the teams move a ball through a maze during a challenge.

The teams are dissolved, leaving the nine remaining players to compete on their own. Later, a tug-of-war contest finds the contestants competing for a shopping spree with Jessica Simpson; a trainer helps a player face her fear of heights; and a contestant turns the tables on a trainer.

Season 12 favorites Antone, Becky and Vinny return to judge a cooking contest and offer the players advice. Elsewhere, the contestants' exercise routines are spiced up with a Zumba class and mountain biking; and the players load food onto trucks during a pop challenge.

The contestants receive makeovers before traveling to Washington, D.C., to meet Michelle Obama and debut their new looks to friends and family. Fashion pro Jeannie Mai and celebrity hairstylist Ken Paves assist with the transformations.

The stakes are higher than ever when all the eliminated contestants return to the ranch to compete in a fateful, four-part challenge.

The challenge winner will secure a coveted spot as a finalist, and the chance to compete for the $250,000 grand prize, along with the other two finalists revealed in last week’s episode. It’s a fight to the finish with each player fiercely determined to get back in the game in a competition that will put their speed, knowledge and endurance to the ultimate test. In the end, the third finalist of season 13 will be revealed.

The contestants from this season return for a special reunion and a chance to weigh in one last time - and show America how much weight they've all lost since beginning their weight-loss journeys. The contestants are on their own this week when trainers Bob, Jillian and Dolvett leave town to surprise kid participants Biingo, Lindsay and Sunny and their families with a visit to their hometowns. Some players struggle without their trainer, but others rise to the occasion, and an unexpected leader emerges. In honor of this week’s "Pay it Forward" theme, contestants run a 5K and money is donated to a local Boys and Girls Club, with the winning team earning $15,000 to split among themselves. The trainers plan special surprises for each kid in their hometown before returning to the ranch in time for last chance workouts, when Jillian has a run-in with a player on another trainer’s team. Later, the weigh-in brings welcome news to one player who has been struggling, before another player is sent home.

Tasked with trying to affordably stock the kitchen with a week’s worth of healthy food, the contestants race against time to make healthy purchases within their budget at a grocery. Later, one contestant struggles to keep trying her best despite weight loss setbacks, while Dr. H and one of the trainers help a contestant realize the importance of addressing the emotional issues that contribute to weight gain. Trainers Bob, Jillian and Dolvett skype with kid participants Biingo, Lindsay and Sunny, and then a swimming challenge puts the players to the test as they compete for one of the most coveted prizes of all. Finally, a tearful elimination sends another player home.

It’s the halfway point in the season, and the contestants find out that the weight of only one player on each team will count this week, but they won’t know who it will be until the weigh-in. With this week’s theme of “Leading by example,” trainers Bob, Jillian and Dolvett skype with kid participants Biingo, Sunny and Lindsay, and motivate each one to do just that. While Sunny creates a circuit training routine for her fellow classmates, Biingo tries to recruit more friends to his after-school sports club. Lindsay gives an anti-bullying speech to her peers, joined by special guest Cody Simpson, who also talks about his experience being teased before performing for the kids. The adult contestants compete in a crazy challenge requiring them to avoid three swinging pendulums while walking on a balance beam to retrieve calorie-coded plates matching five specific dishes.

The contestants face their first temptation in honor of Valentine’s Day, featuring favorite Valentine’s Day treats and the promise of the winner getting a weigh-in-advantage for themselves and a friend. Back at the ranch, one player displays an amazing act of kindness, and another has an emotional, heart to heart talk with a trainer about the circumstances leading to his weight gain.

Two players leave the ranch during a week devoted to facing fears. Others confront fears that include sharks, confined spaces and singing in public. Also, a challenge atop a seven-story building is planned for the contestants. Elsewhere, Sunny has a difficult conversation with her mom; Lindsay learns about the daily life of a diabetic; and Biingo tries to eat vegetables.

The contestants receive makeovers, with fashion guidance from Tim Gunn and new hairstyles from Ken Paves. They then return home to reveal their new looks to friends and family. Meanwhile, the players aim to lose a certain percentage of body weight in order to win immunity for everyone.

Emotional reunions follow, as the winning team, their trainer and their family members gather for a Thanksgiving feast and share what they are most grateful for. Then it's time for weigh-in and another elimination, which leaves one trainer giving a very tearful and emotional farewell to one of their players.
