Senovės Graikija. Despotiškas ir kraugeriškas karalius Hiperionas bei žiauri jo žmogžudžių armija leidžiasi į prieš daugybę metų dingusio Epyro lanko paieškas. Tikima, kad tas, kurio rankose šis lankas – nenugalimas, tad Hiperionas užsigeidžia bet kokia kaina jį gauti. Hiperiono armija žiauriai siaubianti kaimą po kaimą, griauna ne tik graikų namus, bet ir likimus. Po vieno tokio kraugeriško Hiperiono žygio, jaunas mūrininkas Tesėjas netenka savo motinos. Įsiutęs vaikinas prisiekia atkeršyti už jos žūtį. Jo ryžtą pakursto ir pranašė Fedra. Merginos vizijose – būtent Tesėjas – tas išrinktasis, kuris vienintelis gali sustabdyti Hiperiono armiją. Su Fedros pagalba Tesėjas suburia nedidelį pasekėjų būrį ir stoja į nuožmią kovą už šviesesnę žmonijos ateitį.

Vieną kartą, piktam burtininkui pagrobus Fabijaus sužadėtinę, princas nedelsdamas ėmė ruoštis į kelionę – vaduoti savo mylimosios. Tadijus, kaip visuomet, galvojo lengvai nusimuilinti, tačiau karalius prieštarauti neleidžiančiu tonu įsako Tadijui vykti kartu su broliu.

His imagination is presented as the myth of the maze and the Minotaur, and some of the characters in the piece are in Picasso's real paintings - his famous dove, the Minotaur, and the ladies of Avignon, among many others.
