藤原拓海はとうふ屋を営む父の文太と二人暮らし。友人の樹と一緒にガソリンスタンドでアルバイトをしている普通の高校生だが、毎日、父のハチロク（AE86トレノ）で峠道の配達することで凄いドラテクを身につけていた。文太は伝説の走り屋で拓海は無意識に父の英才教育を受けていたのだ。ある日、チーム「妙義ナイトキッズ」のリーダー、中里毅がガソリンスタンドにやってきた。樹はバトルに挑むがあえなく惨敗。その晩、中里は峠で信じられないドラテクのハチロクに遭遇する。一方、拓海は、幼なじみのなつきから海へデートに誘われ、喜びを隠し切れないが、なつきは影でベンツに乗った男と援助交際していた。

違法なストリート・レースの最中に衝突事故を起こして逮捕されたショーンは、少年院行きを免れるために軍人の父を頼って日本へ。言葉や文化の違いに戸惑いを感じながら高校生活を始めた彼は、留学生のトウィンキーに誘われ、ドリフト・レースが行われる深夜の立体パーキングに赴く。

New Initial D the Movie Battle Digest is a compilation film in the New Initial D the Movie series. It features the battle scenes from the Initial D Legends films with a new soundtrack, in a similar fashion to the Battle Stages. While the original films featured a J-Rock soundtrack, this film features a Eurobeat soundtrack. Aside from the battle scenes, it also has scenes where the characters from the films test drive their vehicles.
