ThunderCats conta as aventuras de um grupo de felinos sobreviventes do planeta Thundera. O primeiro episódio da série começa com a destruição de Thundera, forçando os ThunderCats (uma espécie de nobreza Thunderiana) a fugir de seu planeta natal.
