Blade är hälften människa, hälften vampyr, och besatt av sin önskan att utkräva hämnd på de varelser som gav sig på hans mor och därmed är orsaken till hans belägenhet. Men han drivs också av att rädda mänskligheten från att gå under i ett bloddrypande slag mot vampyrerna.
