故事发生是北爱独立战争期间。英国士兵乔迪（福里斯特·惠特克 Forest Whitaker 饰）在阿尔马遭到了北爱共和军的绑架，共和军企图用他来交换被英军扣押的俘虏。看守乔迪的是弗格斯（斯蒂芬·瑞 Stephen Rea 饰），他的内心对杀戮和战争感到迷失和无奈，对乔迪的遭遇感到恻隐与同情，他们成了好朋友。共和军最终没换来俘虏，上头要求弗格斯处决乔迪，弗格斯暗中放走了他。乔迪走前交给弗格斯一张他女朋友迪尔的照片，告诉弗格斯可以去伦敦找他的女朋友迪尔。 不料乔迪逃走时却误被来袭击的英军坦克轧死了，早已厌倦了战争的弗格斯逃到了伦敦，化名吉米。他在伦敦找到了迪尔，被她深深吸引，后来在旅馆时却发现她是男儿身。此时爱尔兰共和军传来消息，他们已经判了弗格斯死刑，他们要求弗格斯去执行一次同归于尽的任务！

本片以朝鲜初期时代为背景，戏说了朝鲜世祖篡位的历史。乱臣后代金乃敬 拥有看面相识人的技能，但却由于身份卑微只能和妹夫 还有儿子镇衡 隐居于荒野。汉阳最大妓院的老板娘 专程来拜访了金乃敬，并游说他前去汉阳靠看相赚钱，但却遭到了镇衡的不理解。来到汉阳后的金乃敬步步为营，赚到了大钱并得到了忠臣金宗瑞 的赏识，甚至获得了皇帝的信赖。可是由于出色的才能金乃敬不得不卷入了皇帝的亲弟弟首阳大君 争夺帝位的争斗中，并且还连累了已经改名换姓中了状元的儿子镇衡。金乃敬决定帮助金宗瑞和小皇帝破坏首阳大君的阴谋，可是他能看透人心却不能决定人的命运。历史的洪流还是不停地流逝着。

Biography of Mohammed Ali Jinnah, the founder of modern Pakistan is told through flashbacks as his soul tries to find eternal rest. The flashbacks start in 1947 as Jinnah pleads for a separate nation for the Muslim minority, infuriating Lord Mountbatten. Mountbatten then tries to enlist Gandhi & Nehru to persuade Jinnah to stop his efforts. Gandhi sides with Jinnah, which upsets Nehru. However, Jinnah turns down the offer to become prime minister and the film takes another slide back to 1916, which reveals all of the political implications that have occurred.

Bologna, 2002. Amidst protests against the labor reform, the assassination of a lawyer opens old wounds between Italy and France. Former far-left terrorist Marco, convicted of murder during the Years of Lead and living in Paris since then thanks to the Mitterrand Doctrine, is suspected of being its instigator. When the Italian government asks for extradition, Marco goes into hiding with his daughter Viola, precipitating also the life of his family back in Italy.
Stolen Kosovo is a Czech language documentary by director Václav Dvořák (b. 1948), about the Serbian–Albanian conflict in Kosovo. The documentary describes the situation, first in a short overview of the history of the area, followed by the 1990s conflicts and bombing of Serbia by NATO forces in 1999 and ending with the situation after the Kosovo War. The documentary focuses on the 1990s in the time of Slobodan Milošević's rule as well as on numerous interviews of Serbian civilians and, less, of Albanian insurgents against the Milošević regime.

The Colegio de Arquitectos de Catalunya commissioned Pere Portabella to make this film for the Joan Miró retrospective exhibit in 1969. There were heated discussions on whether it would be prudent to screen the film during the exhibit. Portabella took the following stance: "either both films are screened or they don't screen any" and, finally, both Miro l'Altre and Aidez l'Espagne were shown. The film was made by combining newsreels and film material from the Spanish Civil War with prints by Miró from the series "Barcelona" (1939-1944). The film ends with the painter's "pochoir" known as Aidez l'Espagne.

The film also features the miners strike and class struggle, squatting and social centres such as Bradford's 1in12 club, animal rights and feminism.
