Le royaume d’Arendelle est plongé dans un hiver permanent depuis que la reine Elsa, dans un moment d’impatience, a utilisé ses pouvoirs magiques. Fuyant la vindicte populaire, elle quitte le palais pour se terrer loin de tous sur une montagne glacée. La princesse Anna, qui se sent en partie responsable des évènements, part à la recherche de sa sœur, accompagnée de Kristoff et de Sven, son fidèle renne.
Anna, sa soeur Elsa, son copain Kristoff, son ami Olaf et le renne Sven vivent désormais paisiblement sous le même toit. Un jour, la reine Elsa se met à entendre une voix qui l'encourage à quitter les frontières de son royaume pour obtenir des réponses sur le passé de sa famille. Elle espère pouvoir enfin résoudre le mystère derrière ses pouvoirs magiques. Anna, Kristoff, Olaf et Sven l'accompagnent dans son aventure à travers la forêt enchantée afin de sauver le peuple d'Arendelle, qui court un grave danger.
