In 1998 Malice Mizer played a two-day live theatrical concert at the Nippon Budokan performing “merveilles”, their third studio album in its entirety on a large cathedral set piece. The footage was later released on home video featuring the addition of various skits between tracks (such as vocalist Gackt donning a set of wings and falling to the stage to sing "Le Ciel", then returning to “Heaven" by song/concert’s end).

Bara ni Irodorareta Akui to Higeki no Makuake is a home video release of a two-day theoretical concert (August 31st and September 1st) played by Malice Mizer at Nippon Budokan during the year 2000 with newly recruited vocalist Klaha. The band perform their fourth (and final) studio album “Bara no Seidou” in its entirety using the gothic cathedral from the cover of the album as an enormous set piece.
