Zeven jaar zijn verstreken. Graaf Dracula heeft zijn monsterhotel inmiddels ook opengesteld voor menselijke gasten. Zijn dochter Mavis is getrouwd met haar mensenvriend Johnny en samen hebben ze inmiddels een zoontje; Dennis. Wanneer Dennis tegen zijn vijfde verjaardag echter nog altijd geen scherpe hoektanden heeft ontwikkeld, begint Dracula te vrezen dat zijn kleinzoon mogelijk geen vampier is.

Het verhaal gaat over de 11-jarige Cyril (Thomas Doret) die door zijn vader (Jérémie Renier) in een internaat is geplaatst. Maar als zijn vader de belofte hem daar uit te halen niet nakomt, ontsnapt Cyril uit het tehuis en probeert tevergeefs zijn vader weer op te zoeken. Achtervolgd door mensen uit het internaat, wordt hij opgevangen door een jonge vrouw, Samantha (Cecile de France).

Hij lijkt op zijn ene ouder, maar wil in de voetsporen van de ander treden. Tom verdient zijn geld net als zijn vader met dubieuze huizenhandel. In een appartement dat hij goedkoop op wil kopen, laat hij ratten los, een gekraakt pand wordt hardhandig onbewoonbaar gemaakt. Pas als hij op een avond de impresario tegenkomt van zijn overleden moeder, die concertpianiste was, bedenkt Tom zich weer dat hij ook musicus wilde worden. Het verlangen die ambitie opnieuw vorm te geven, splijt zijn bestaan.
