Ο Χόγκαν, κάνοντας αναγνώριση για μελλοντική κατάληψη ενός Γαλλικού οχυρού, συναντάει την Αδελφή Σάρα, μια καλόγρια που χρειάζεται βοήθεια. Πριν να το καταλάβει, ο Χόγκαν βρίσκεται να συνοδεύει την Αδελφή Σάρα σε επικίνδυνες περιοχές καθώς εκείνη προσπαθεί να εκπληρώσει κάποιο μυστηριώδη σκοπό.
Σε αποστολή του στον κόλπο της Συρίας, το γαλλικό υποβρύχιο Τιτάν έρχεται αντιμέτωπο με άγνωστης προέλευσης υποβρύχιο. Η επιστροφή του προσωπικού στη στεριά ικανοποιεί τους περισσότερους όμως τα ανώτερα κλιμάκια διατηρούν επιφυλακτική στάση απέναντί τους και στα γεγονότα που συνέβησαν. Τον Ιούνιο του 1940, κατά την εκκένωση των συμμαχικών στρατευμάτων από την Δουνκέρκη στην Αγγλία, ο Γάλλος λοχίας Julien Maillat και οι άνδρες του συζητούν εάν θα πάνε στη Βρετανία ή θα παραμείνουν και θα πολεμήσουν τα γερμανικά στρατεύματα που πλησιάζουν.

Σ’ αυτό έχει βοηθήσει και η πανέμορφη Αντελίν, που προέβλεψε ότι τον περιμένει ένα λαμπρό μέλλον στον βασιλικό στρατό και ότι η ίδια η κόρη του βασιλιά Λουδοβίκου του15ου τον περιμένει.
The last days of World War I, Eastern front. Captain Conan, a lone wolf, a true warrior, leads a band of ruthless French fighters who love hand-to-hand combat; they are not fit for peacetime, they only feel really alive in the chaos of the battlefield.
The movie depicts the events from July until September of 1914 which led to the defeat of the German troops at the Marne. While Sebastian Haffner explains and comments on operations and decisions on the basis of situation maps, key scenes are depicted by actors. A main focus is thereby placed by Haffner onto the controversial mission of lieutenant-colonel Richard Hentsch who is said to have, during a war patrol to the various army high commands, contributed to the abortion of the operations significantly.
1795, Holland. The French vanguard is pushing towards the north, through a strong blizzard, beyond the enemy lines.
