في أثناء لعب الأطفال للعبة الاختباء، تكتشف لوسي؛ الابنة الصغرى، خزانة بها باب ينقلها إلى عالم نارنيا العجيب؛ عالم نارنيا مغطي بالثلوج، ويمتلئ بمجموعة من الكائنات العجيبة التي تحكمهم الساحرة الشريرة جاديث، ليكتشفوا بعد عبورهم جميعا إلى عالم نارنيا أن لزاما عليهم التصدي لهذه الساحرة.
أبناء عائلة (بيفينسي) الأربعة يعودون مرة أخرى إلى مملكة نارنيا، ليكتشفوا أن مئات السنوات قد مرت على آخر مرة كانوا فيها هناك. الملك الشرير (ميراز) قد تولى مقاليد الحكم هناك. بمساعدة المجهود البطولي للفأر (ريبسيب) يصلون إلى وريث العرش المنفي بعيدا عن البلاد؛ الأمير (كاسين)، ليبدؤوا في التخطيط بمساعدة (أصلان) للانقلاب مرة أخري على الحاكم، وإعادة الأمير لحقه الشرعي.
تنتقل (لوسي) وشقيقها (إدموند) إلى عالم (نارنيا) الساحر بصحبة ابن عمهما (إيوستاس)، هذه المرة يتم الانتقال عن طريق لوحة جدارية لسفينة عظيمة تمخر عباب البحر. يفاجأ الأبطال أن الماء يندفع من اللوحة ويغرق الغرفة، وحين تمتلئ عن آخرها يكتشف الأبطال الثلاثة أنهم انتقلوا إلى عالم نارنيا، فى وسط المحيط.
