어린 시절 불의의 사고로 시력을 잃은 바이올리니스트 시드니 웰스(제시카 알바). 아픈 상처 속에서도 씩씩하게 살아가던 그녀는 드디어 각막 이식 수술을 받고 힘겨운 적응 기간을 이겨내며 서서히 일상적인 삶으로 돌아온다. 하지만 행복한 시간도 잠시, 시력을 점차 회복해 가면서 다른 사람에게는 보이지 않는 기이한 것들이 보이기 시작하고, 악몽인지 현실인지 분간할 수 없는 공포에 시달리게 된다. 눈을 뜨면 보이는 죽은 자들의 영혼들. 시드니는 이식 수술 후 기증자의 성격과 습성까지 전이되는 ‘셀룰러 메모리’라는 이상반응 현상을 의심하고 주위의 만류에도 불구하고 직접 기증자를 찾아 나선다. 그리고 감당할 수 없는 커다란 비밀과 공포 앞에 다시 한번 주저앉게 되는데…….

Federal Airlines ace pilot Chick Faber is grounded by Flight Superintendent Bill Graves when a doctor says his eyesight is failing. Aided by Mary Norvell and Nan Hudson, Graves persuades Chick to take a job as teacher in the school for airline hostesses, and Chick and Mary get married. He learns that the Army is going to test a stratosphere plane that he and Artie Dixon designed and feels that he should make the first flight but permission is refused.

A mole lad with sensitive vision is allowed outside to play in the daylight on the condition that he stay close to home. Outdoors, he meets a traveling sales-skunk.
