Het verhaal volgt de drie onsterfelijke vampiers Viago (Taika Waititi), Deacon (Jonathan Brugh) en Vladislav (Jemaine Clement) die zich proberen aan te passen aan de moderne maatschappij. Door het overwinnen van alledaagse obstakels, waaronder het betalen van de huur en het binnen zien te komen in nachtclubs, proberen ze de steeds veranderende wereld om hen heen te begrijpen.
