마약 중독자인 밥은 그의 아내 다이앤과 친구 데이빗, 네이딘과 함께 약국을 털며 생활한다. 약국에서 가져온 약들은 환각제로 둔갑하여 그들에게 기쁨을 주기도 하고, 환각제를 찾는 이들에게 판매가 되어 돈을 벌어주기도 한다. 하지만, 밥의 뒤를 끈질기게 쫓아다니며 괴롭히는 경찰때문에 그들은 새로운 보금자리를 마련한다. 하지만, 새로운 보금 자리 역시 경찰의 감시를 벗어나기는 힘들다. 밥은 그를 감시하고 있는 경찰을 골려주려고 이웃집 남자를 부추겨 경찰에게 총을 쏘도록 꾀를 부린다. 어느 모텔에 묵고 있던 넷은, 의견충돌로 다투게 된다. 밥과 다투고, 항상 밥에게 복종하는 데이빗에게 화를 낸, 네이딘은 모텔에 혼자 남게 되고, 나머지는 병원을 털러 간다. 하지만, 병원에서의 약탈은 쉽지 않고, 이들은 간신히 병원을 빠져나온다. 모텔에 들어온 그들은 약물과다로 시체가 된 네이딘을 발견하고, 시체의 처리로 고심한다. 결국, 임시로 모텔의 천장에 숨겨두려고 하지만, 곧 이 모텔에서 지방경찰들의 행사가 열리기 때문에 방을 비워달라는 요청을 받게 된다. 사방에 경찰들로 쫙 깔린 모텔에서 어떻게 시체를 처리할지 난감한데…

Enrico, former lover of Serafina, interrupts constantly the wedding night showing on several disguises and calling at Pistacchio's drugstore by ringing the night bell, asking the unfortunate groom a preposterous list of prescriptions.
