地球外知的生命体の存在を研究している天文学者エリーは、ある夜、未知の電波をキャッチする。それはヴェガ星からのものであり、地球上の映像と謎の設計図が納められていることが判明。それはヴェガ星への輸送機関であった。急ピッチで基地が建造されるが、エリーはパイロットの選考から洩れてしまう。だがテロリストによってヴェガへの発進基地は無残にも破壊されてしまう。
