Příběh filmu se odehrává v období po druhé světové válce, kdy je Japonsko na dně svých sil. Jenomže z jaderného spadu Hirošimy a Nagasaki povstává velké monstrum jménem Godzilla, která zaútočí pár týdnů po skončení války a dostane Japonsko ješte do větších problémů. Podaří se zničeným lidem přežít... natož se bránit?

The Japanese government sets up a special task force to fight the giant creatures suddenly appearing across the country. Soon, the squad unexpectedly meets a giant silver humanoid who starts appearing every time a space monster attacks!

Mining engineer Shigeru investigates the disappearance and death of his fellow coworkers when prehistoric nymphs are discovered emerging from the mines. After an attack on the local village, Shigeru heads deeper into the mines only to make a more horrifying discovery in the form a prehistoric flying creature. Soon a second monster appears as the two converge in Fukuoka.

Ponorka narazí do plovoucího kusu ledu do kterého byla Godzilla (Gigantis) v předchozím dílu zasypána. Jakmile to zjistí armáda, vyšle proti Godzille rakety a letadla, ale Godzillu to nezastaví a půjde dál na Tokio. Mezitím je nalezen na tropickém ostrově lidoop, kterému místní domorodci říkají King Kong. Poté, co zničí obrovskou chobotnici, je polapen a odvezen z ostrova, protože vědci věří, že on je jedinou nadějí na záchranu Tokia. Godzilla mezitím začne pustošit celé Japonsko a při prvním setkání Konga zažene do města. King Kong tam najde ženu, do které se zamiluje a začne město ničit (s ní v ruce). King Konga nakonec polapí a odvezou ke Godzille. Začne největší souboj nejslavnějších obřích monster.

Godzilla se opět musí utkat se zlem. A to s tříhlavým monstrem, kterého chce využít pro své plány na ovládnutí planety - mimozemská civilizace. V pořadí šestý film s Godzillou. Jedna z hlavních inspirací pro "Mars útočí" Tima Burtona.

Masaru Aso was the lab assistant of geneticist Doctor Mochizuki, used as one of his experiments related the creation of the Neo Organism, enabling him to transform into a grasshopper-like being called Kamen Rider ZO. He fled into the mountainside and went into a coma before he was awakened by a telepathic call two years later with an unconscious urge to protect Hiroshi Mochizuki, the son of Doctor Mochizuki.
