Trata-se de um melodrama situado na década de 1950 que acompanha a vida da enfermeira Sarah Adams (Marta Dusseldorp, de Crownies). Após a morte do meio-irmão, Sarah retorna para a Austrália para cuidar da mãe com quem ela não convive há 20 anos. No navio, Sarah se envolve com os problemas da família Bligh, uma das mais poderosas de Inverness, uma região rural fictícia.
Elizabeth Bligh (Noni Hazlehurst) é a matriarca da família. Controladora e mantendo uma postura tradicional, Elizabeth mantém seu próprio negócio em uma época em que a maioria das mulheres era considerada apenas esposas, mães e donas de casa. Seu único filho, George Bligh (Brett Climo) é o diretor da empresa. Embora tenha pulso firme para manter os negócios, ele tem uma personalidade mais gentil que a da mãe.
George é pai de James (David Berry) e Anna (Abby Earl). James é um jovem perturbado casado com Olivia (Arianwen Parkes-Lockwood, de Underbelly) e Anna é uma mulher que aproveita todos os prazeres que o dinheiro pode lhe dar, o que não lhe impede de se interessar por Gino Poletti (Aldo Mignone, de Danger 5), que trabalha para a família Bligh.

Already legendary series today, was produced by Czechoslovak Television Bratislava, directed by Slovak director Miroslav Luther in the first half of 80's in Barrandov Studios in Prague. The story and screenplay of the series wrote Czech writer Vladimír Körner. Five-episodes epic historical narration is a biographical story of distinguished Renaissance scholar, anatomist and politic of Slovak origin, Johannes Jessenius (Ján Jesenský, 1566–1621). It displays his life from the first studies and successes. In 1594 he became professor of surgery and anatomy on Wittenberg University, which he had attended years before. From that moment, his life went through social and personal wins and losses, to the sad end on the Prague Old Town Square gallows, among 27 noblemen, knights and burgenses, after lose Bohemian Revolt in 1621. His destiny was coupled with key events of Czech history in the break of 16th and 17th century, when Renaissance and European humanism slowly fade out.
When Okita Kazuaki was starting out as a doctor, he was forced to resign from the hospital. He left his girlfriend Danjo Mifuyu behind and went to the US alone. 10 years go by and he comes back as a surgeon with outstanding skills to save his former teacher from illness. His teacher is none other than his ex-girlfriend’s father. In the time that Okita was away, Mifuyu had married his own good friend Masao, who is now the deputy director and the heir of the hospital.
