Tελικά φτάνουν στην Τρίτη Γη, πλην όμως ο χρόνος δεν έχει αφήσει ανεπηρέαστο τον Λάιονο, ο οποίος παραμένει έφηβος αλλά σε σώμα ενήλικου. Ταυτόχρονα φτάνουν στην Τρίτη Γη και τα Μεταλλάγματα. Η έλευση των δύο αυτών φυλών στον πλανήτη δεν περνάει απαρατήρητη από τους υπόλοιπους κατοίκους και ιδιαίτερα από τον δαιμονικό Μάμρα (Μαμ-Ρα), μια μούμια-μάγος, ο οποίος με τη βοήθεια των Μεταλλαγμάτων και άλλων μοχθηρών δυνάμεων θα προσπαθήσει να καταστρέψει τους Θάντερκατς, ώστε να σταματήσει την κυριαρχία τους στην Τρίτη Γη.
