"Last trip.Ultimo viaggio" è una miniserie televisiva in due parti che ha debuttato sulla CBS nel 1996. La serie segue diversi personaggi a bordo del Titanic quando affonda nel suo viaggio inaugurale nel 1912. La miniserie è stata diretta da Robert Lieberman. La colonna sonora originale è stata composta da Lennie Niehaus. E' il primo film del Titanic a mostrare la nave che si rompe in due.
È il 1909 e il giovane ingegnere metallurgico Mark Muir parte da New York per l'Irlanda per partecipare alla costruzione del Titanic. A Belfast, Muir riallaccia il legame con il padre e conosce Sofia Silvestri, immigrata italiana di umili origini che lavora come copista al cantiere. Mentre gli operai lottano per ottenere la rappresentanza sindacale e condizioni di lavoro più umane, Mark e Sofia s'innamorano, ma la loro storia d'amore è ostacolata dalla diversa religione di appartenenza e dal differente ceto sociale.
La miniserie racconta in maniera romanzata la vita dei passeggeri a bordo della nave, alcuni inventati, Lord Manton e la sua famiglia o Jim e Mary Maloney, e altri realmente esistiti, come il comandante Edward Smith, il secondo ufficiale Lightoller, Thomas Andrews, Bruce Ismay e Harry Widener.
