San Franciskas. Jaunas mokslininkas Vilas (akt. James Franco) vykdo genetinius eksperimentus su beždžionėmis. Tirdamas naujus vaistus vyras pastebi stulbinantį jų šalutinį efektą – medikamentas keliskart padidina beždžionių intelektą. Bandymams atgabentų gyvūnų būryje esantis primatas Cezaris (akt. Andy Serkis), staiga pradeda suvokti, jog visuomenėje beždžionės nėra lygios žmogui. Suaktyvinta smegenų veikla besivadovaujantis primatas savo gentainius prilygina žmonėms ir siekia ištaisyti šią neteisybę. Cezaris ragina savo gentainius sukilti ir padaryti galą žmonių viešpatavimui pasaulyje.
Po įvykių antrojoje Beždžionių planetos dalyje, Kornelijus ir Zira pabėga atgal per laiką į Žemę, į 20-ojo amžiaus Los Andželą, kur jie susiduria su baime ir persekiojimu, panašiai kaip tai patyrė ateityje beždžionių planetoje Tayloras su Brentu ir atranda įvykių kilmės srautą, kuris bus reikšmingas jų pasauliui.
