又是一年一度的行旅，老酋長的經驗是要看見上天的指示，才能出發。年輕人不相信，並不同意老酋長的看法，便組合了村中幾個年輕力壯的小夥子就先出發了。
在一路上，缺乏經驗的青年用自己的方式走，而晚了三天出發的老酋長一行人卻趕上了他們，有如神助一般，證明了老酋長的話是對的。此時的天空一片蔚藍，風和日麗，高原上壯麗的風景就像是仙境一般。老酋長卻在此時叫大家趕快離開，因為他知道馬上就有暴風雪來了。其他的隊員都加入老酋長的隊伍，年輕人固執得不肯相信，堅持要晚一些才動身。
果然就在大家離開之後，暴風雪來臨了，年輕人花好大的力氣才趕上隊伍，此時他才發現老酋長為了鼓勵隊伍前進，自己一個人殿後，可是他已經精疲力盡，身體狀況很差，還好年輕人及時趕上，救了老酋長一命。
經過了這一段充滿波折和歷練的行旅之後，老酋長看見年輕人身上有成為酋長的特質，年輕人也學習了老酋長的經驗和互相了解，就像在冥冥之中有上天的安排一樣，讓老酋長和年輕人這兩個固執的男人有了盡釋前嫌、互相了解的機會。這一切看在老酋長的小兒子的眼中，就像是一堂無價的人生之課，喇嘛回到寺院之中將這一趟行旅全部的過程畫在牆上，叫大家都記得這一次難得的成長旅程。
