Ο Μίστερ Μπιν, φύλακας στο βασιλικό μουσείο τέχνης, πρόκειται να απολυθεί αφού τον έπιασαν να κοιμάται εν ώρα υπηρεσίας. Όμως, την τελευταία στιγμή, επεμβαίνει ο διευθυντής του μουσείου, με μια καλύτερη ιδέα. Προκειμένου να αποκαλυφθεί η απίστευτη ανικανότητά του, προτείνει να τον στείλουν στις ΗΠΑ με την ιδιότητα του κριτικού τέχνης, για να βγάλει λόγο στα αποκαλυπτήρια ενός διάσημου πίνακα ζωγραφικής. Έτσι ο Μίστερ Μπιν βρίσκεται ξαφνικά στο Λος Άντζελες, σπέρνοντας τον όλεθρο στα μουσεία, τις γκαλερί, τα νοσοκομεία και τα αεροδρόμια.

Ο θάνατος κυριαρχεί στον χώρο και η ωμότητα κόβει την ανάσα. Η υπόθεση ξυπνάει στον Όμπρεϊ οδυνηρές αναμνήσεις. Καθώς ο δολοφόνος ξεσκεπάζει ένα-ένα τα σκοτεινά σημεία της ζωής του Όμπρεϊ, αποκαλύπτεται μια άλλη ανατριχιαστική εκδοχή των γεγονότων και όσο οι αμφιβολίες πληθαίνουν, τόσο η αλήθεια φαίνεται ολοένα και πιο τρομακτική.

Balkan Baroque is a real and imaginary biography of the Yugoslavian performance artist Marina Abramovic. Rather than a mechanical reproduction of the artist's work, the film tries to create a new reality by translating the performances into cinematographic images that intensify the fictional context of the film. Abramovic plays herself, but ,appearing in multiple forms, blurs her own identity. Memories and fantasies intermingle with day to day rituals. The chronological narrative often breaks to reflect the interior voyage of the protagonist from the present to the past and back to the present. The result is a visually impressive film. Balkan Baroque had its world premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, 1999.
