La leggenda di Tarzan è una serie televisiva animata americana creata da The Walt Disney Company nel 2001, basata sul personaggio di Tarzan creato da Edgar Rice Burroughs. La serie è andata in onda su ABC dal 13 luglio al 7 settembre 2002 come parte del programma 'Disney's One Saturday Morning'. Inizialmente era intesa come la prima serie originale, anche se alla fine è stata deviata alla line-up 'Disney's One Too' della UPN. La leggenda di Tarzan riprende da dove si era interrotto il film del 1999, con il personaggio del titolo che si adatta al suo nuovo ruolo di leader delle scimmie dopo la morte di Kerchak e Jane che si adatta alla vita nella giungla. A completare il cast ci sono il padre di Jane, il professor Archimedes Porter; Tantor, l'elefante germofobo; e Terk, una spiritosa gorilla e vecchia compagna di wrestling di Tarzan.
Sheena è una bella e misteriosa ragazza bionda, capo indiscusso ed amata di una pacifica tribù africana, i Zambuli, che vive nella giungla in un villaggio di nome Zakuru ai piedi di un monte, il Gudi Hara, dal quale deriva una prodigiosa terra rossa capace di guarire le piaghe più orrende. Ella è figlia di due scienziati, morti in tragiche circostanze sotto il monte che volevano esplorare; è stata cresciuta amorevolmente da Shaman, una donna molto saggia guida spirituale del popolo Zambuli. Sheena oltre ad essere il punto di riferimento della sua tribù è capace con dolce fermezza di farsi obbedire e capire da qualsiasi animale della giungla. Nella non lontana città di Azan, capitale dello stato di Tigora, vive il buon re Jabalan alla cui vita vuole attentare il cinico ed ambizioso fratello Otwani: questi riesce nel suo intento con l'aiuto di soldati senza scrupoli e fa cadere la colpa sulla povera Shaman giunta in città per parlare col re. La donna viene arrestata ma Sheena la libera con l'aiuto degli animali suoi fedeli amici e di due giornalisti americani Vic Casey e Fletcher arrivati sul posto per un servizio. Vic e Sheena sono attratti l'uno verso l'altra e iniziano la grande fuga per sfuggire ad Otwani, diventato re, alla sua ragazza Zanda e ai suoi sicari che vogliono catturarli per ucciderli poiché Vic ha scoperto la congiura. Attraverso mille peripezie i due eroi scoprono di amarsi e riescono alla fine a sterminare i nemici aiutati anche dagli animali e dagli Zambuli che, per salvare la propria regina hanno abbandonato la loro natura pacifica. Vic deve tornare in patria per svelare al mondo tutto il complotto di Otwani e far riportare la pace nel travagliato stato di Tigora; ma lascia la sua bella con la ferma promessa di tornare da lei nel suo mondo incorrotto e meraviglioso.
Tarzan is a series that aired on NBC from 1966 – 1968. The series portrayed Tarzan as a well-educated character, one who, tired of civilization, had returned to the jungle where he had been raised. The show retained many of the trappings of the classic movie series, including Cheeta, while excluding other elements, such as Jane, as part of the "new look" for the fabled apeman that producer Sy Weintraub had introduced in previous motion pictures starring Gordon Scott, Jock Mahoney, and Mike Henry. CBS aired repeat episodes the program during the summer of 1969.
A differenza dell'uomo sempliciotto raffigurato nei film, questo cartone animato presentava un Tarzan intelligente e di buone parole, accompagnato da una scimmia, N'kima. Per molti versi, questa serie è stata la più fedele di tutti gli adattamenti cinematografici del Tarzan di Edgar Rice Burroughs, e presentava alcune "città perdute" dei romanzi originali.
La serie segue le avventure di Mowgli, il "cucciolo d'uomo" allevato dai lupi e dei suoi amici animali Baloo e Bagheera, in lotta contro la tigre Shere Khan nella giungla indiana.
From the day two decades ago that young John Clayton's parents died and left him alone in the African jungle, he was raised by apes and has emerged as the fearless Tarzan. Resisting captivity, he escapes into the concrete jungle of New York City where he encounters the strong-willed NYPD detective Jane Porter. Jane's perfectly ordered life is turned upside-down by Tarzan's dangerous yet profoundly untainted morality. Romantically involved with another member of the force, Detective Michael Foster, Jane is left to choose between reason and instinct, civilization and pure humanity, her head and her heart.
Lucan is a TV Drama which aired on ABC from 1977 to 1978, starring Kevin Brophy, John Randolph, and Don Gordon.
A 20-year old man who spent the first 10 years of his life running wild in the forest after being raised by wolves, Lucan is taken to a research institute and taught the ways of human society. He is befriended by a kind research doctor whom he bonded with during his journey to civilization. Lucan's continued freedom at the research center is put in peril once his doctor friend and mentor is hurt.
Unable to insure Lucan's well being at the institute, his friend encourages him to strike out on his own in search of his identity. The short-lived TV series chronicled the encounters, challenges, and intrigues Lucan faced interacting with people using his new learned social graces and old Wolfen instincts.
Lucan did have special Wolfen skills that were invoked when he was made very angry. When upset to the point of violence his eyes glowed amber. He also had heightened senses of smell and hearing. In a few episodes he was able to call on his old wolf family/pack for help.
This series was based on a 1977 made-for-TV movie of the same name directed by David Greene.
Mowgli's Brothers is a 1976 television animated special created by legendary animator Chuck Jones. It is based from the first chapter of Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book of the same name. The special was narrated by Roddy McDowall who does all the male characters in the film. It originally aired on CBS on February 11, 1976. The special was released on VHS by Family Home Entertainment in 1985 and in 1999 and released on DVD by Lionsgate.
