Kartu su princese Nefere, dvylikamečiu broliuku Sekhemu ir pastarojo naminiu gyvūnėliu – krokodiliuku, išsiruošia į kelionę ir atsiduria mūsų dienų Londone, o ten užverda tokie nesusipratimai, kuriozai ir nuotykiai, kad tik spėk dairytis.

Airijoje gyva sena tradicija, kurią galbūt visai mielai perimtų ir kitų tautybių merginos. Jei su vaikinu bendraujama jau pakankamai ilgai, o jis, bjaurybė, nerodo jokių ženklų, kad artimiausiu metu pasipirš, situaciją įmanoma perimti į savo rankas. Tačiau tik kartą per ketverius metus – vasario 29-ąją. Ana ir jos vaikinas Džeremis ką tik paminėjo ketvirtąsias artimo bendravimo metines. Romantiško priklaupimo ant vieno kelio taip ir nesulaukusi mergina nusprendžia, kad jau visai netrukus išaušianti vasario 29-oji yra puiki proga ant kelio priklaupti pačiai. Vienintelė bėda – kad Džeremis iš karto po metinių paminėjimo išsitrenkė į kitą pasaulio kraštą – Airiją. Tokia smulkmena Anos, žinoma, sustabdyti negali – mergina ryžtingai išsiruošia pasitikti savo ateities.

Šio filmo režisieriaus pristatinėti nereikia. Net jeigu jis nieko nekurtų, keistasis kanadietis D. Cronenbergas jau seniai įėjo į kino istoriją savo neįtikėtinai originaliais, o kartais šiurpinančiais filmais, kurių dažnai neįmanoma įsprausti į žanro rėmus. Ne išimtis ir naujasis filmas, tiesiog atvirai ir net nejuokingai vaizduojantis narcisistinio Holivudo užkulisius. Nepagaili net Roberto Pattinsosno personažo – iš pirmo žvilgsnio lyg it neutralus vairuotojas ir pradedantis aktorius galiausiai vis tiek pasirodo esąs tikras šmikis. Tačiau „Kelias į žvaigždes“ nėra vien kandi ir gniuždanti satyra. Tai ir D. Cronenbergas, ir D. Lynchas viename. Gal todėl trapus ir krištolinis filmo grožis taip bauginančiai dera su pasibjaurėtinais veikėjų poelgiais. Kartais atrodo, jog taip ir nepabusi iš šio hipnotizuojančio ir narkotinių vizijų kupino sapno... Pribloškiantis kino brangakmenis!
