Heat Guy J kreeg in 2003 een licentie en werd in de VS gedistribueerd door Pioneer. Het werd in het najaar van 2009 opnieuw uitgebracht door Funimation Entertainment. De eerste 13 afleveringen van de show werden ook uitgezonden op de kabelzender MTV2. Er is een manga uit één deel gemaakt op basis van de serie, onder licentie en gedistribueerd door TOKYOPOP. De show werd opgepikt voor een Britse dvd-release door Manga Entertainment vanaf maart 2006. Het werd verpakt in dubbele dvd-sets om de lang uitgestelde release van de serie goed te maken.
