Ο Σέιμουρ Κρέλμπορν είναι ένας ορφανός σπασίκλας που δουλεύει στου Μάσνικ, ένα ανθοπωλείο. Είναι κρυφά ερωτευμένος με τη συνάδελφό του, την Όντρεϊ Φούλκουαρντ και δέχεται τις καθημερινές επικρίσεις του κου Μάσνικ. Μια μέρα, ενώ ο Σέιμουρ ψάχνει να βρει κάποιο μυστηριώδες φυτό, όντως βρίσκει ένα πολύ μυστηριώδες φυτό, το οποίο και ονομάζει Όντρεϊ Νο 2. Το φυτό δείχνει να διψάει για αίμα και σύντομα αρχίζει να τραγουδάει για κερδίσει το ψωμί του.
Ένας υπάλληλος ανθοπωλείου για να διατηρήσει τη δουλειά του και να εντυπωσιάσει τη συνάδελφό του Όντρεϊ με την οποία είναι ερωτευμένος, δημιουργεί ένα λουλούδι που ονομάζει Όντρεϊ Τζούνιορ. Αυτό όμως το λουλούδι χρειάζεται ανθρώπινο αίμα για να ανθίσει κι έτσι ο δημιουργός του αναγκάζεται να διαπράττει φόνους για να το... ποτίζει.
