兩萬年前，冰河世紀逐漸迫近，大小動物必需南下求生。尖酸刻薄的長毛象文輝勉強救了力弱又多口的樹獺森仔，途中，森仔發現棄嬰羅山，遂哄騙文輝一齊放棄南下，先護送他回家。未幾，他們遇上賊眉賊眼的劍齒虎大阿哥，對羅山虎視眈眈。三隻性格迴異的動物連同小羅山，合力渡過不少難關，目的地愈來愈近之際，危機又再出現……

講述主角龜仔亞央與一群森林動物，在冬眠過後發現人類的足跡已遍及近郊，並以巨大的綠色籬笆作為他們棲身地的分隔。性格油滑的浣熊RJ向他們解說，跨過這籬笆就可獲得好生活，那裡是人類生活的範圍，他們享用著豐富物質，不似他們動物只會為基本食物而到處張羅。 阿央對油腔滑調的RJ並不信任，牠只想與家人安安樂樂守住美好的家園。但RJ不斷游說眾動物，鼓勵牠們闖入綠籬笆內的新天地尋找豐富食物，阿央不知RJ背後隱藏著神秘動物，終於與眾動物答應與RJ合作，向著綠籬笆內既陌生又刺激的新天地出發冒險……

自由公園裡的小動物們逐漸習慣了依賴堅果店生活，每天玩樂，慢慢失去了動物生存本能。松鼠安迪為此深感憂慮，而松鼠蘇爾利卻覺得輕鬆過日子沒有什麼不好。直到某日，堅果店發生爆炸意外，失落的小動物們回到公園決定重新開始，卻又發現公園即將被貪婪的市長改建成遊樂園。驟然失去食物來源及家園，小動物們頓失依靠，無比絕望。在拯救被市長女兒擄走的巴哥犬寶貝的行動中，蘇爾利的莽撞行為導致好朋友巴迪身受重傷。經歷了這麼多，蘇爾利終於懂得反省自己的莽撞。小動物們也逐漸發現夥伴的重要性，以及原來生活終究還是要靠自己的努力。在蘇爾利的帶領之下，小動物們決定向貪婪的人類選戰，奪回家園。

風光如畫的自由公園住滿各式各樣的小動物，大家相處和諧，除了犀利哥(Babyjohn聲演) 獨斷獨行只靠自己食腦搶食。今年公園嚴重缺糧，公園領袖大浣 (Adam聲演)委派自命正義的奀宜(Cherry聲演) 及公認為英雄的威神 (Heyo聲演) 去搵糧食，撞破正計劃騎刧果仁車的犀利哥，它們在混亂間令公園內儲存糧食的大樹爆炸，所有糧食被完全燒毁，大家註定捱餓過冬。犀利哥亦因此被放逐，永遠不得返回公園。 犀利哥變成過街松鼠，卻與死黨老友記無意發現一家果仁專賣店，這正是賊王石阿堅與一班手下的藏身地點，原來他們正密謀盜竊對面銀行的金庫！犀利哥與老友記設法想偷走店內的果仁，誰知被奀宜發現，別無他法唯有跟她合作一起偷果仁去拯救公園。得到守門口的小狗寶貝豬 (Lydia聲演)，以及傻更更鑽地三兄妹的幫助，齊齊做世界搵食。但世事邊有咁簡單？犀利哥展開行動後，郤未能得到其他動物的信任，期間更發現大浣不可告人的陰謀，大家原來都被蒙在鼓裡，加上石阿堅快將展開盜竊行動，他究竟能否突破重重難關，為大家搵食兼揭發驚天大陰謀，成為公園真正的英雄呢？
