Two scenes that immediately came to mind for me (in order, btw) was:
1) The night surfing scene. Yeah, it's kind of underwhelming, but what I liked about it was that you get the sense...almost to experience...the immersion into this whole new crew and world of experiences. In that scene the draw is intoxicating and the comradery is real. It's an awesome, if quiet scene.
2) The steadicam chase scene. As a long-time film buff I remember how ground breaking and awe-inspiring that was. Now of course it is cliche and done-to-death, but it was very effective and invigorating as an audience member. Really great stuff.
There are others, but I'll stop with two. :)
edit: I just rewatched the chase scene (have to say it's still good but hasn't aged well) and realized the dog being thrown is the same scene! I never caught that before. lol

The first thing that came to mind was the stormy beach in Australia at the end. It had a real sense of finality and danger to it.
