I love this movie, and it happened to be on TV today!

I wasn't too sure. There was no knowing smile playing at the corner of her lips in her last look at him... but then, what in the world would she do with him once they discovered they got no gold and the rest of his crew were all dead?

Or, did they get some of the gold? Enough to be ok, perhaps a portion of Pinky's cut?

That might be the most elegant solution to the whole thing. He really was too old for her anyway.

It wouldn't make sense for Fran to lead Jim back to the gold, much less back to fake gold. Chances are she's dead once Jim discovers what he really has. And expecting Jim not to check the gold after his crew had been taken in by switched gold twice already in the story is an against the odds gamble. We get it that he's stupid, but falling for it a third time?

Having said that, a lot of the double crosses in this story don't make much sense either.

Yeah, I think she was with Jim at the end, unfortunately. I hoped she would stay solid with Joe, but, in the end, she truly double crosses him. I wonder if it's because Joe asked her to do "what ever it took" to get the job done, including seducing Jim, and that crossed a line with her. Great flick, kept me guessing. 7/10
