you think this was realistic result already at that time or custody for mother was unrealistic already back then because I can't really imagine judge giving custody to parent who walk out on their own child and I hope nowadays at best she would get shared custody (is there absurdly reason not to give this automatically if both parents are interested and fit to take care?) or lose completely

also how would they proceed in the end, she has legal custody and he should pay child support, do they need to court again it she can just give up her custodial rights and child support with some affidavit?
