I like this movie and watch it a couple times around Christmas, but it always struck me that Luther didn't seem to like his daughter (who is portrayed as a total saint that everyone else adores). There are so many instances where he seemed downright mean towards her, like when he says he wants to send her back to Peru, when he says he has planned the cruise longer than she and her boyfriend/fiance have been dating, and when he nastily mimics her talking during the three way phone call between Blair, Nora and himself when she announces she's coming home for Christmas. Nora is so happy that her daughter is coming home, Luther acts like she's a total pain in the a$$. I actually find it kind of off-putting. If either of my parents acted like that I wouldn't want to visit.
