I think it's a generational thing. As a kid who came of age when Star Wars came out, there's no way to recapture that magic. I really wanted to enjoy TFA, but it felt too much like a rehash and I couldn't help being disappointed. The best thing about it was putting humor back into the story. But I found the story lacking.

I was a senior in HS when SW ANH came out. My friends and I in San Diego at the time had a great time seeing it. It was fun. Sure the new film is somewhat rehash, but I do not care. I took both my grandsons (15 and 17) who are not sci-fi fans that much and without any prodding both told me they really enjoyed it, the younger going on and on why. For me it was like seeing some old friends I hadn't seen in a very long time. It brought back many great memories.

Now go put your huge melons on your pillows and cry yourselves to sleep.

I think that is a bunch of baloney. I have seen plenty of films since them that impressed me much more. To say that they will never be equaled is just making excuses up for lack of originality and fear of trying something new because god forbid it doesn't make a billion dollars. Another thing I didn't like about TFA was the over use of comic relief. I almost thought I was watching a sitcom with a laugh track there were so many goofy, laugh out loud moments. Don't get me wrong, comic relief is necessary but when it is over done, it is a sure sign of plot filler. In other words, we don't have any real substance to present to you so we will just make you laugh. It's lame and a typical Abrams writing ploy. He did the same thing with Star Trek.

This is easily the worst Star Wars movie I've seen. Unoriginal plot & the main bad guy can't act and he had the challenging role. Why the hell did they choose him? I haven't seen Rogue One because this one made me completely lose interest.

Well, obviously it's down to your individual taste whether you think they are great or not. But there is a large consensus among film critics, scholars and film makers that ANH and TESB are among the greatest films (I didn't say THE greatest) made till this day, and within their genre - space opera - without competition.

Yes, this was just the Emperor's old clothes. An unimaginative rip off with fanfic level writing. The only film in the franchise so stale and cynical that I have no desire to revisit it.

I can see how anyone who isn't a fan of the saga might enjoy it. It's visually quite impressive. It's the people who call themselves 'fans' that I can't understand. It makes the victory in RotJ completely pointless and goes outside the original concept of 'The Force' by presenting us with a character that doesn't need to train or learn anything in order to wield it like a Jedi Knight.

For me it was like seeing some old friends I hadn't seen in a very long time. It brought back many great memories.

I love this movie over all the others. I like Rogue One as well, especially the assault on the planet with the fleets involved.

The world and setting is amazing in Star Wars. My problem with the original episodes is the childish push in them. Slapstick stormtroopers and Ewoks... to name a few...

The one thing for sure i will dislike in episode 8 is that Mark Hamill will be having a bigger role in it. They should have casted a more capable actor.

I guess you failed to notice a blind man and a woman with a stick knock down Stormtroopers like they were like ninepins at a bowling alley or that a young girl used a Jedi Mind trick on a storm trooper without any training, who just hours earlier thought Luke Skywalker was a myth!

Mark Hamill as an actor has improved greatly with age, Daisy Ridley acts like she’s on stage but unfortunately the stage of Christmas Panto! John Boyega left a lot to be desired in his performance, as an escaped Stormtrooper he wasn’t credible at all, the only decent acting in Force Awakens came courtesy of Harrison Ford.

After TFA I had very low expectations for any new Disney Star Wars. I saw Rogue One a few days after release and thought it was great.

Should you get the opportunity I recommend it.

I'm too much of a SW fan to not watch it but I refuse to give Disney any money for it at the box office. Now with episode VIII my curiosity may just get the better of me.

Rehash is an understatement. Some images are shot for shot copies! People are parroting that its a rip off because its true! Taking A New Hope and rendering it in a blender for some contemporary audience might make money, but why keep $h!tting on the true believers? We would like a decent fresh angle. Rey as a female Luke surrogate, a new rolling R2D2, a different Darth with a crappier helmet, and ANOTHER FRIGGIN DEATHSTAR??? Cripes. Take the thing away from JJ I'm sick of his reboots.
