The bomber faked his death. The probably cut out a scene that would have shown them investigating the explosion site or the writer goofed.
Social media not being a thing back then, the news outlets were the only source to get this information and the cops told them not to say anything.
Faking his death doesn't seem like a possibility here. He would need a body in place, and it happened so fast. Doubt he was after a close call here but it requires them thinking that it's him. Plus the way he left didn't seem like a guy that is just about to blow himself up. Bad writing.
Every agency would've been at the airport, kinda doubtful the cops would be able to stop someone reporting for very long, especially when the plane got blown up. They would've been all over it. Though it's not plausible I can see a scene dealing with this but they got sloppy again.
And of course, there's nothing remotely eye-brow raising about a run of the mill public bus having the capacity to jump over a mega-chasm in the middle of a highway
That one has probably been discussed a lot and if i accept it as a stylisation it doesn't bother me as much as a plot hole. Does it bother you? Could you watch 2012?
