Ouch. Well we can only hope, as with all propaganda films, that history won’t remember it kindly. Probably not though. People still adore Zero Dark Thirty even though it’s just a paper thinly veiled rally cry to justify the CIA’s torture of war prisoners (which ironically in the film, as well as reality, didn’t even yield any useful information). My guess is there’s always a violent fringe audience who wants to see dumbed-down “good guy vs bad guy” war flicks where their side is the good guy. And directors like Eastwood are only too ready to sell it. I lost all respect for the guy when he endorsed Trump. But at least he’s kinda shut his mouth about politics ever since his team trashed the Capitol building. I just hope he isn’t working on a film about those “patriots”.

One of the points from these critiques that carries a lot of weight for me is the contention that producers of these movies are not even honest with the available information. So determined are they to tell/sell their fabrication to their base, facts be damned - instead of adding constructively to public discourse, they seem to prefer to cash in while fomenting and fanning flames of division.
I'd say "shame on him" but this mindset seems incapable of shame.
