Debate Océanos de fuego

I find it hilarious that Disney places "based on a true story" at the beginning of this film and the only thing true about it was that there was a man named Frank Hopkins and... that's about it. Even after being confronted with debunking Disney refused to remove the "based on" from the film prior to release and basically said that most films that claim "based on" are almost mostly completely full of shit so what they did was basically in line. I still found the film entertaining and well acted but it is kinda annoying that Hollywood misleads people with impunity.

I have never seen the movie & haven't wanted to (not interested in western-type movies). But I googled it & here is part of it's wiki page:

Well, it's not really a western in the true sense of the genre. But the main plot of the film, an American of mixed blood riding a mixed blood horse who crosses "the big water" to race in a yearly race in Arabia is complete horseshit (pun intended). I suppose my main point of this post is to let people know that whenever they see "based of a true story" on the credits of a film, you can pretty much rely it is all fiction. It is just Hollywood razzle dazzle on your emotions to make the film give you the feelies to which I must admit it does do a number on me. Well, it did, as now I know better. But man, ignorance sure is bliss. I am now robbed of the feelies I used to get when I see "based on a true story" . 😥

I'm sorry you have been hornswoggled.

If I want to see a movie that says 'based on a true story', I always look it up first & read all about it. I also, keep the wiki page about the movie open while I watch, so I can check stuff. It's weird I know but...?
