For me it's hard to choose between Michael Keaton and Christian Bale. I love them both as Batman, but they play it very differently and the movies are also on completely different notes. Christian Bale is a strong and believable, millionaire next door, Batman. Keaton on the other hand is more of a classic super hero Batman. Maybe I would go with Keaton, guess I prefer a lighter version of Batman.
Bale was doing the whole psychological interpretation of Batman, but he wasn't the first to do this on screen. With Keaton it was more below the surface. He was quieter, more reserved, but you could tell there was screwed up things going on in his head. Tim Burton's German Expressionism style conveyed Bruce Wayne's twisted state of mind. With Burton's Batman it was all felt. With Nolan's it was all explained. I liked them both, i just preferred the mystery of Keaton's and Burton's.
Bale was doing a terrible Batman impersonation. All I see is Ben Affleck when he's Batman. Val Kilmer was okay, I guess. Clooney suffered from a terrible script.

Bale of course. Second place goes to Affleck. Keaton, Kilmer, Clooney sucked ass.
