The acting in this was unbelievably high octane! Totally mesmerising in conjuction with the dramatic cinematography and I'd love to see more like it. To illustrate the power of the performaces, I recall that I came to the film after hearing the audio of the subway scene sampled at the climax of the first Cultes des Ghoules album, which grew in my mind for some time before curiosity became too great and I had to experience this extremely disturbing snippet in its proper context. The fact that the scene was completely different to the one I'd imagined only reinforced the feeling I had by that point that I'd never seen anything quite like this film before.
