I think Hanks and Garner both did a good job of portraying children trapped in adult bodies. I like how the movies are similar, yet still quite different. In 13 Going on 30, her wish transports her 17 years into the future, but in Big, his wish only changes his physical appearance, so it's actually pretty sad how the parents are led to believe he's been kidnapped.
Apparently, there was an '80s TV movie with a similar concept called 14 Going on 30. In this one, the kid uses a science experiment to turn into an adult so he can woo a teacher.
Big is one of my favorite box-office hits. So funny. The line where Susan tells big Josh that Paul hit him because Paul's scared of him is just a gem. It gets me every time.

I would have liked Big to have a similar ending as 14 Going on 30 . As it is now, it leaves such a bittersweet taste behind.
