What Was Supposed to be Neil's Arc

I know Tylers was dealing with grief and trauma with Ally and the other was dealing with the issues in his family, but what about Neil. He was an abusive SOB that used his badge to get away with it. Does he get any kind of character development.

True, and I hated that Tyler never told Ally that her dad also choked him out when he broke into his apartment . I really loved this movie and had no idea it was going to end with it being about :

9/11. That ending truly hurt.
Considering what happened at the end of the movie, I think that Neil was on his way to becoming a better person/cop.

Yeah that twist was sad. Caught me off guard then I realized it was set around that time.

- I had no idea at all , thought I was only watching a dramatic love story (until the teacher wrote the date on the board). I have never been so caught off guard by any movie ever.
