I do. Sort of KPAX meets Star Man.

Great movie, it had an ambience to it that I liked very much and the story kept me alert the whole time. Very exciting at times with the whole chase and some scenes were breathtaking!

No beginning - no explanation as to how this child was conceived by two people from Earth yet somehow didn't belong here and was an alien. No explanation as to why he was farmed out to the head of a religious cult. No explanation as to why that head of said cult sent out a team to kidnap him or what they were going to do with him once they had him. No explanation as to what the guy they sought sanctuary with was doing staring into the boys illuminated eyes - he wanted to see it again he said - what? The boy had supernatural powers when it suited him but couldn't see the kidnappers on their way to get him it seems. Ok we had the usual father trying to save son endless chases - but if the child was so powerful why did he need the parents anyway. And what was with the entire city arriving to take him back to where he came from - couldn't they have just beamed him up from a ship or something? And the ending - the mother cuts her hair and the father ends up in a psych ward. Gee - that was a satisfactory resolution wasn't it? Just because something is labelled Sci-Fi doesn't mean that you can skip on logic - plausibility and explanations. By the way - if you have used personal insult towards me in the past you are on "ignore" - I never descend to that level and never respond in kind.

I agree with @strangebedfellows, particularly regarding the origin/birth story. It seemed to be quite a surprise to them that he was "from another world." That said, I didn't have a problem with the rest of the plot (religious cult, sporadic powers, etc). For the main character(s) it was definitely a story of self-discovery. As to why the boy didn't defend himself in the kidnapping but did against the military, that seemed to be a 'technology' angle. He could sense technology used against him, but not rudimentary and biological creatures. (For example: all the cultists were driving older cars, etc; military would have tons of tech/location/tracking).

One line though, that stood out was when the boy said,"I think I'm like them, but they have been observing us for a very long time." So again, was he 'lost' among the humans, some kind of half-breed or just self-identified human even though he wasn't by nature. A strange oversight in an otherwise well-developed story, unless I'm missing the point. :)

Yeah, really dumb. A kid with super bright flashlights for eyes, and? Totally forgettable (which I did).

True for nearly everything today. Perhaps it's an issue of consumption rather than production...

Of course, filmmakers (smart ones anyway) make movies based on the audience they already know exists. If they know audiences won't question an asinine super-power because they're too dumb to question the physics and application of said super-power, then why bother making a smart film? One thing I notice also with audiences lately is they'll excuse plot holes and implausibilities if the content grabs them emotionally.
