Neil Brown Jr., Aldis Hodge, and Corey Hawkins are in this together, and they all also had roles in The Walking Dead. Not that there's much material value to this observation, but it did seem curious.

Here's Hodge (yellow shirt) on Sesame Street back in 1995/1996. He appeared in seasons 25 & 26.

HOW did you find this?!

I found it a long time ago when I was searching Hodge's background. He was my second favorite character on Leverage. But it was this movie that made him well-known to the public.
Although I was disappointed in this movie, I think they wasted too much time on the party aspect when they could have delved deeper into the characters.

Groovy.
There's quite a gap between what many hoped this movie ought to have been and what it was. I mean, lawsuits aside, how do you exclude Arabian Prince?! Yeah, I know, reasons. And, although MC Ren (played by Hodges) is in it, Ren himself says the movie didn't get it right here, either.

Here's a more recent interview with TAP, it's from 2022:

I haven't watched it so I can't say it's any different from the 2015 one.

I had somehow hoped the filmmakers would delve more into the "warts" aspects of some of the band's members -- until I discovered more about who the filmmakers are. Matters like the beating of Dee Barnes should have gotten their spotlight, while I think it was the Detroit concert incident that was made to give the rappers a "heroic" quality (popular American musicians getting a tough time while trying to perform for audiences goes further back than NWA!!).
Meh. I guess rap has enough problems as is w/o revealing its own skeletons in the closet.
Brother Cube, if you're reading, I am not feeling the "middle-aged rap" vibe.

It's called character design. A character based upon him would have been repetitive.

Kinda, sure. I mean, this is not a documentary; but it is supposed to be telling the true story of NWA, and those people are a key part of the story of NWA, so a character based upon him would be true to the story of NWA.
Hey, at the end of the day, even though they both are on record saying "this movie doesn't truly get it all right", they both also say it was a decent job and they have no major beef with it, so, I guess I shouldn't either.

Not yet! In fact, I haven't even seen this movie yet, so my comments are all to be taken with a grain, or two, of salt.
That said, yes, I will watch it later today and circle back — thank you for your patience and nudge!

That's just it, DRD. The film is a fictive feature that needs to respect the rules and values of screenwriting, and that includes character design. Character design's adhered to when the main characters all play distinct roles in the story without overlapping each other, arguably. If there are 5 characters in NWA all playing rapper roles, then why put a 6th one in it doing much the same thing? Of course, it probably didn't hurt the final decision-making process that Arabian didn't get along with Ruthless Records.
Anyway, I hope you look at the biopic and then add to the thread as you like.

The title of the interview/video is: "Arabian Prince on Why N.W.A Removed “Something 2 Dance 2” From “Straight Outta Compton” & Ice Cube" & you asked how they could exclude TAP from the movie? But as I said I didn't watch the video. Are they referring to the album or the movie?

It was a good interview, lots of insight into TAP's story, I just got impatient trying to find where they mentioned it. I have read in other articles that's he's okay with the movie because the true fans of the group know his legacy and the role he played, and mentioned that Easy-E's widow controlled much of the production and felt a way about how he left the group and sued and all that but, for him, it's "just business, it's all good" type of thing.
