I have to give it to both Aquaman and Venom I was not expecting these movies to be as successful financially as they have in 2018. I do think the fanbases of both Jason Momoa and Tom Hardy probably played a major part in their successes.

I don't think either actor has a big enough fanbase to generate the return those movies did. Regardless of those movies problems, they were entertaining. The first job of a movie is to entertain the masses. If it can't do that, there is no way it can pull those numbers.
