A celebrated director, a celebrated composer, nicely shot and a film that boldly plunges into two distinct halves - it should be a classic. The problem is it really needed to be in thirds, with a middle third to bridge between the two halves. Or alternatively something to hell flesh out why Jim is what he is.
Without that, Jim's character development might give you whiplash, not least due to the choice of ending. At 82 min. though this is still worth a watch.

The remake retained the shotguns and snow filled landscapes of the original. The roads are a bit more icy in Seagal's opus, hence why he amped up the film's title for the remake.
