With the purchase of X-Men by Disney I imagine that they are just going to recast everybody and start over with a new look, I think they are trying to burn this off so they can start over. Who knows, this may come out as one of the best movies in the franchise, however initial reports state that this has been phoned in and that the all the aliens in it are generic. Who knows, we will have to see what everyone says as we move closer to the release date next year.

As I alluded to in an earlier thread about this film (I think it was this film), it's not good thinking to write off all of Fox's efforts at bringing the X-Men to the screen, just because Disney has purchased them. That stated, I think Dark Phoenix has a chance at being really good.
They probably will recast the X-Men after a few more projects about them come out, but so what?

Exactly. Also Fox did that themselves anyway (recast with a new look) and that happened to be the best Xmen yet (Days of Future Past).
Regarding Dark Phoenix, it does have the potential to be really good and the trailer makes me hopeful. One thing is, it can't be anymore phoned in than Apocalypse. That was boringly predictable and just going through the motions. Plus it was a massive waste of a huge storyline and baddie. He could've been built up like Thanos in Avengers Infinity War.

This will suck ass, just like Apocalypse did. No point seeing it. Just get it over with and let Kevin Feige bring in the real X-Men to the vastly superior MCU where they belong.

You could argue, "What's the point of seeing most films?" Most of them don't have further instalments planned, with the same cast or not.
That said, whilst I loved the first four "X" films (even Last Stand), I was disappointed by the last 2. The trailer hasn't sold me on this one, either. I'm not sure Sophie Turner was a good choice for Jean.

They really haven't built up these "new" characters' relationships enough since Apocalypse, esp., pivotally, Scott and Jean's. It should be their movie, based on the source material. Ah well.

The trailer was meh. It reminded me a lot of The Last Stand. Dark Phoenix should be a major event in the X Men franchise like Infinity War was with the Avengers. No build up at all. No Hellfire Club. Magneto is the villain yet again, even though he has nothing to do with the comic book story.
I hate seeing Raven as a hero and X-Man. She needs to be a villain.

Remember, nobody actually knows what Disney are planning yet. It could be their intention to merge the established Fox X-Men into the MCU. We are just assuming they are going to reboot the characters.

They are going to reboot, just like they did with Spiderman. Marvel wants to make those characters as their own.

Has this been officially confirmed? Or is it just an assumption?
Sony had already canned The Amazing Spiderman and sacked Andrew Garfield for their own reasons.
Yeah, I'm sure they will reboot the characters. But it's still just speculation unless announced by a Disney or Marvel exec.

I asked the same thing about Logan.
Not only is Logan massively overrated it's just a spin-off and it's not connected at all to the official timeline which stopped with X-Men: Days of Future Past.

I agree totally with you about Logan. I actually feel that all three movies after Days of Future Past (Logan, Apocalypse, and Dark Phoenix) were pretty pointless, because DOFP was basically the end of the franchise. Fox should have just rebooted the whole thing after that movie.
When Logan woke up at the end of DOFP, the film series ended as far as I am concerned.

I can see your point there...DOFP was a better end to the series then anything that followed. Although Logan is a good movie in its own right and a great end to the beloved Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, its not one I'd pick to end the series to a newbie.
DOFP made a lot of money at the B.O., so unfortunately, FOX chose to keep the series going..who wouldn't?

I think DOFP was very overrated, if they wanted to do something different, they would have gone with the original storyline, where Kitty Pride was the focus, not Logan. I even bought the directors cut with Rogue and I wasn't even impressed with that.
